April 21, 2014:
Hey friends, it’s been awhile, so let’s get right to the new news: Thugs, The Musical will finally be available THIS TUESDAY, April 22nd on this-here site, as well as on the thugsthemusical.com site. Aaaand…if you like the music from the film, you can buy Thugs, The Musical, The Album RIGHT NOW on iTunes!
That’s right – if you CLICK HERE you can buy all the songs from the film, including tracks like “Who’s That Keepin’ it Real”, “Oh No, She Di-in’t”, “Break Yo’self”, and more! So cop dat shit, yo (that means go get it).
“Wow, Kevin, what could be better news than this?” Well, I’m glad you asked, Random Stranger…Because we want all of you to see the film without thinking about whether or not to shell out a handful of cash, we’ve made ”Thugs” available for $1. Yep, a buck. That’s it.
So on Tuesday, we hope you’ll go buy the film (and the soundtrack) and then spread the word about it, cause we’re really excited about having as many people see the film as possible.
Also, again, I’d like to thank everyone who came out to the “Thugs, The Musical (Sorta) Live” show in LA last month! We had so much fun doing this show and showing you the film. And of course a big thank you to the Nerdmelt Showroom and Meltdown Comics! And if you happen to be in New York, we’ll be bringing “Thugs, The Musical (Sorta) Live” to you on May 23rd at the Creek and the Cave!
Thank you again for supporting Thugs, The Musical! We hope you love the film and the soundtrack as much as we loved making it! Stay tuned for more updates.

Hey, San Francisco & SF Bay Area friends!
Our regular screening is scheduled for Saturday, June 16th at 6pm at the African American Arts & Cultural Center (762 Fulton Street). ”Thugs” will be shown in a film block with 3 other short films, including a pretty awesome documentary from Law & Order’s S. Epetha Merkerson (I saw it in Dallas – it’s amazing).
And if you want to catch an early screening of “Thugs”, there will be a pre-festival screening & reception on Thursday, June 14th at 6:30pm at the Jazz Heritage Center (1330 Fillmore Street). This will be a special double-feature event featuring “Thugs” and another short film, followed by complimentary food and drinks (1st drink is free).
Both theaters are somewhat small (I think the Jazz Heritage Center only seats 39), so these screenings will very likely sell out. I’d definitely recommend buying tickets as soon as you can.
Also, despite what the link page for the June 14th show says, I will NOT be appearing as “Elrus Pearsley” – that’s someone else. I will be at both screenings though, so I hope to see all my SF peeps there!

So this happened…
Okay, let me back up! It’s been a minute since you guys have heard from me, and a lot of stuff has happened. So let’s start with the craziness that is the above photograph.
On April 26th Thugs, The Musical made its west coast premiere on the opening night program of the L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival. And what does a packed opening night look like, you ask? Just like this!
And as if that wasn’t cool enough, later that weekend, “Thugs” took home the Audience Choice award!
In addition to screening in Los Angeles, “Thugs” has continued to hit the festival circuit, playing the New York No Limits Film Series on May 2nd, and the Tupelo Film Festival on May 19th, where it won 1st prize for Best Short Film, and the Ron Tibbett Award for Best of Show!
But let’s talk about what’s coming in the next few weeks. On June 9th, Thugs, The Musical will be screening at the Bonnaroo Art & Music Festival in Manchester, TN! Yep…WE’RE GOIN’ TO BONNAROOOOO!!! Music, comedy, hippies, and now thuggin’.
Saturday, June 9th at 5:30pm. You can get all the info at the Bonnaroo website!
And finally (almost), as “Thugs” was originally born in San Francisco, it’s only appropriate that we bring “the wrongness” back home. So, I’m incredibly excited to announce that Thugs, The Musical will come to SF for the San Francisco Black Film Festival on Saturday, June 16th at 6pm. It will be screening at the African American Arts and Cultural Complex (in the Buriel Clay Theater), located at 762 Fulton Street!
Tickets go on sale today! I’ll be sure to post a link as soon as I get one. But for now, you can visit sfbff.org to get any information about the festival.
We expect/hope to be hitting other cities in the next few months, so stay tuned!
That’s all (and probably enough) for now. Thanks for reading and, of course, thank you guys for your super-awesome support. Talk to ya again soon…for real!

March 26, 2012:
Awwww snap! Friends, we just got word today that Thugs, The Musical has been selected to screen at the L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival where it will make its West Coast premiere!!!
This is kind of a homecoming for us, as the screenplay for the “Thugs” was a finalist (top 3, baby) in last years LA Comedy Shorts Fest, so we’re incredibly excited to be invited back this year to show the finished film.
So if you’re in the L.A. area, this is your chance to come see it screened for the first time in L.A. (or anywhere on the West Coast, for that matter). And hopefully we’ll have some cast and crew joining us for the event, so come on out and watch it with us!
The L.A. Comedy Shorts Festival takes place April 26-29 in downtown Los Angeles. As soon as we know the date and time that “Thugs” will be screened, we’ll be posting it here and screaming it from every rooftop we can find, so stay tuned!
As always, thanks so much for your support, and keep it hood, ya’ll.
